We can restore your car to as close to original as possible, do mild updates for key systems, or do a resto-mod with updated mechanicals.
For instance, with the gold 1980 FIAT X1/9, we wanted the car to be as close to original as possible, including all of its original specification emissions controls, like the catalytic converter and vacuum lines to the carburetor. The car looked and drove pretty much as it left the factory. That said, we did include a few changes to improve the operation. This included wiring in a relay controlled electric fuel pump for consistent fuel delivery and with the safety of the relays to shut off fuel if the engine stalled. We also added relay systems for the windshield wiper system (which vastly improved their operating speeds) and the pop-up headlamps (which prior to that had all of the power for the motor and the lamps running through the dash switch, resulting in the switch burning out over time). The intention was to make this car into a usable classic that could even be registered in California, which has some of the toughest emissions laws in the world.
Currently, we are doing a resto-mod on our 1974 FIAT X1/9. The 1974 was the lightest of the X models sold in the US and the only year for the tiny corner bumpers. Our intention with this car is to make it look stock from the outside, but be substantially upgraded on the mechanical side. We are swapping the original 1.3l 67hp engine for a 2l Honda K20 engine from an Acura RSX type S, together with the Honda six speed transmission. This will give the X the power that its chassis always deserved.
